24 hours of FUN

Day 5 of It Only Takes 21 Days To Create a Habit

1)  OMG - I had such girlfriend JOY today!  We literally sat outside at a restaurant for THREE hours.  Blabbing!  I am such a sad sack though.  I can't tell you how many times I said, "OMG, this is totally a blog post!"  Do you think I can remember even one?  Menopause Memory non-JOY!  See why I have to catch JOY as it flies by?  And then write about it?!  Otherwise - Poof - gone forever!  But - I will consult with my chicas and get back to you!

2)  I am saving this space for the JOY I can't recall!!  Haaaaaa!

3)  Last night I went to see Wicked with some other chicas and it was so GREAT!  Great food, great blab, great company, great show!  And that is all very JOYful.  But the BIG JOY was on the ride home, I was checking facebook on my trusty IPhone and I saw THIS post from my friend Kelly: Three grand slams sez what??!!!

Well!!!  I HAD to find out what THAT meant coming from my rabid Yankee fan facebook friend (try and say THAT 3x fast!).  So I quickly text another rabid Yankee fan friend and find out that:  there were not one, not two, but THREE GRAND SLAM HOMERUNS in the Yankee game that afternoon.  My beloved Bronx Bombers making history once again!!  THAT my friends, is Yankee JOY.

Well - A hurricane is a comin'!  Sigh...such a nuisance.  I was riding right into the week the kids go back to school.  And now this PITA.  Oh well - a little excitement for the weekend.  ROLL MY EYES.  See you soon.  Hopefully before Irene.  No power could really cramp my 21 day habit gig!  And I ain't startin' over next time!!!  Be safe kittens, if I don't see you before!

Tudalu!

Day 4 of It Only Takes 21 Days To Create a Habit

1)  I think the anticipation of something is very exciting and I totally catch JOY.  Tonight I am going to see Wicked!  I have seen it before, loved it and can't wait to see it again.  So that is anticipation JOY.  As important and JOYful - I am going with my chicas!  Love chica JOY.  Once again - anticipation JOY!

Can't WAIT!!!!

2)  So, in our house, the three little pigs are responsible for walking Daisy.  We live very close to a major road on the back side of our house although the front faces a dirt road and about 100 acres.  Unfortunately, we have yet to install an invisible fence (mainly because I fear it won't work one day and she will get herself killed on the road where we have lost at least 4 cats) so she needs to be walked.  Probably 5-6 times a day.  She is only a year old so I am still paranoid of accidents which Oh BTW - I will be installing hard wood floors this year - if you catch my "drift".

Anyway, when we first got Daisy last August, the kids fought endlessly over who got to walk her.  THAT lasted all of a week...sigh.  So now they constantly beat each other up argue over who's turn it ISN'T to walk the dog.

Often I intervene by assigning one to harness her up and the other to walk her.  Today I yelled out to Dennis the Menace to harness the dog so Michael could walk her.  I hear him get up, open the front door...and then I hear the doorbell ring.
OH
MY
GOD.

I hear Daisy RUN, barking, across the house to the front door.  Do you KNOW what he was doing?  That was HIS way of getting the dog to come to him rather than him walking ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE HOUSE to get her.  Roll my EYES!!!!!!!!!!  I belly laughed my A** off.  THAT my friends is belly laugh JOY!  (Only Dennis...sigh.)

3)  I connected with an old friend this week.  I caught JOY.  ♥♥♥

There you have it, kittens!  3 quick JOYS.  Now I have to go put on my face (haaa - do people actually SAY that anymore?  You're lucky if I get a shower and slap some mascara on!).  Tudalu - as my Grandfather used to say as he pinched your cheek really harddddd and walked out the door.  (Let's see if my cousins read my blog!!!)

Joy Seeking Day

Day 3 of It Only Takes 21 Days To Create a Habit

Tick Tock - the clock is ticking.  "They" will be back in school in 8 days.  It's been a longggggg haul.  Don't get me wrong, I love my 3 little pigs.  But I am NOT cut out for one on one for 40-50 straight days.  I admit it freely.  I like my free time.  I WANT my free time.  I am GETTING my free time!!!!!  In 8 days!!!  The thought is JOYful!

Onto Day 3 of 21 days of posting 3 JOYS...

1)  Well - I had to go out and seek some JOY tonight so I took my camera and the 3 little pigs down to Hammonasset just before sunset.  On the way, I swung by our friend's house and picked up their 2 rugrats and here's what we got.

I'm KIDDING!!!!!  I didn't take that picture!  Haaaaa.  Joke JOY!

Sunset JOY!

2)  On the way home from the skating rink, school supply shopping, Uptown Consignments etc.etc.etc I took the 3 little pigs to Durham Dari Serv this afternoon for dinner.  Can I just tell you that Durham Dari Serv has THE best ice cream?!

I am hooked on their Thin Mint Cookie ice cream and their Fresh Peach.  Today it was the Thin Mint.  It's unbelievable.  Creamy, minty green ice cream with not only crushed up thin mints mixed in but also these like, balls of mint cookie coated in chocolate (think malted milk balls) generously folded into every bite.  It's INSANE!  Total ice cream JOY!

3)  I have not lifted a weight in 12 days.  Today, I had 2 girlfriends in and we hit the iron.

It felt so good to be lifting again.  And the blab?!  Best part!!!!  Girlfriend JOY!

See you on only 7 more days day 4!

I'm Such a Good Friend

Day 2 of It Only Takes 21 Days To Create a Habit

Ok, I had plans for my 3 JOYS tonight but one has to change because my girlfriend just texted me and I am ROFLMFAO.  For those of you not in the know that's:

ROFLMAO - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROFLMAO - Cached
ROFLMAO may refer to: Internet slang for Rolling On Floor Laughing My Ass Off. It is ROFL with MAO appended on the end.

Ooops I added the F word - sorry... NO I'M NOT!

So here goes.

1)  I got a text tonight from my girlfriend.  It said, "Read my FB post"  So I go to Facebook and this is what she posted:

Christine Is glad to be alive after getting stuck on a ride at six flags and had to be rescued by park employee.

Let's see - that might be one of my worst nightmares!  Here's our text conversation!

So yea - I caught JOY.  My abs still hurt from laughing so hard.  Maybe you didn't find this that funny?  Seriously - I don't care LOL!  But that's ok.  As long as I got rollonfloorlaughmyfingassoff that's all that counts in this blog!  (Can you believe I really only cared about whether I could use the text thread for my blog tonight?  Come on!  It's all in good fun!)  LOL!!!

2)  Had a GORGEOUS day at the beach with my kids and my neighbor Janice and her kids.  Beach JOY!  Visit JOY!

 Crazy kids!

3)  Janice turned me onto a great salad dressing.  She brought a kale salad.  I made it tonight and used it on a regular salad with chicken.  Here's the recipe:

3 Tbls. Lemon Juice (I would use 4 or more to taste next time)
2 Tbls. Tahini
1 Tbls. sugar or agave
2 Tsp. Soy Sauce
1 Tsp. grated fresh ginger
1/2 Tsp. garlic
Pinch of red pepper

Mix and pour!

Food JOY!

See ya Mañana.

Starting Over

Day 1 of It Only Takes 21 Days To Create a Habit

Well - I guess it's back to the drawing board...

Haven't I seen that Day 1 thing before?  I simply can't justify 21 days when I stopped at 13.  So bear with me kittens.  Here we go again.

1)  Yesterday I went to the Farmer's Market in Chester with my BFF.  It was so awesome.  I caught JOY throughout the whole adventure.  Look at these pix.  I mean - come on...how can you resist?

I spent wayyyy too much.  But it was such good stuff (although not that cheap!)  I bought this great french bread and a wedge of cheese made from raw milk - very stinky - veryyyyy YUM on the bread.  I also bought 4 different kinds of heirloom tomatos - all organic - including my fav, these super sweet lemon yellow ones that I roasted.  Just a very fun and JOY filled morning.

2)  Last night, my oldest came weeping into my bedroom and curled his little body into mine.  It was not joyful that he was so sad.  But it WAS JOYFUL that he still comes to me with his tears and looks for me to hold him seeking comfort.

3)  Ok - so this is quite a simple JOY but I just have to tell you about it.  There is a farm stand in Madison on Rt 79 just before the Hammonasset connector owned by the Cole family.  They have THE best corn in the whole wide world - hands down.  Seriously, folks - I make the trip to get corn from them nearly every day.  I mean - the corn season is SHORT, people!  Every year - my husband and I make a wager on the opening date of the Cole's corn stand.  (I always win.)  But really - the season is from about July 15th (July 10th this year!) to about mid-September.  I need my Coles Corn fix daily!  After 8 days on vacation and no Cole's corn?  Today I caught corn JOY!  It is so tender and so sweet that it's indescribable.  If you are local, I implore you to try it!  You will not be disappointed.  And trust me - I am a corn snob.

Ok - there's Day 1 for the second time this month.  Let's see how I do.

PS - It's also Day 1 of Joey is done abusing herself with wrong food and bad drink.  21 days from now I will be a way better looking chica with 2 new habits! ♥♥♥  Heehee...

Off the Grid

Well - THAT habit thing didn't go well did it?  I left for vacation on Sat. the 13th and had NO idea I would be going "off the grid"!!!  NO WIFI and NO television reception - except for The Ghost Whisperer and Goodfellas - over and over and over...aghhhhhhh.

Now, you would think the no TV thing would not be a problem for me because I don't really watch it.  I do follow 4 shows on my computer but it is very rare for me to sit and watch the bitch box TV.  In fact - I can't STAND it and every freaking TV is on in our house nearly 24/7 as my kids and especially my husband are ADDICTS!  I even said to my husband as he moaned away about it that I was happy to have no TV and he said, "You watch, you'll miss it.  You'll wish we had reception."  NOTTTTTTTT.  Well, guess what?  Monday morning, as I looked forward to sitting down with my first cup of coffee and a little Today Show...oooppsss.  Are you KIDDING me?!!!  Are those clouds in my coffee!!!???

Now there are many people in my life who would care LESS if they had no Internet on vacation.  I would like to think of myself as one of them.  You know - all cool and happy to not be connected?  NOTTTTTT.  In my heart of hearts, I AM NOT ONE OF THEM.  And neither is my husband and neither are my kids.  We were very frustrated.  So much so that some of us (not me!) sat in parking lots in town stealing wifi.

Actually I had very, very spotty Internet on my IPhone.  But it was so annoying.  One minute you'd have it and 2 seconds later, it was gone.  I mostly gave up on it.  (Although I DID managed to keep up with my Words buddies.)  Hence - NO blogging for 8 days.  So much for that "habit".  Oh, heck - I'll just pick up where I left off.  Blog LICENSE, people!  So stay tuned!  I'm not done with that 3 JOYS a day yet!

Baby girl sleeping in the car on the ferry.♥
At any rate, it was a good vacation on Block Island.  I have to say that there is still work involved with a cottage.  You still have to cook and clean and prep lunches for your daily excursions.  And I am used to being right on the beach in the Outer Banks, so driving to a destination each day was different, but luckily we are intimate with Block Island (unlike Martha's Vineyard) so we never lacked for a place to land each day.  And we got to take Daisy with us to the cottage and I have to say, THAT was a JOY.  She had a blast and our cottage was soooo secluded that she could run free and she ran her arse off.  Check out where we were - in the middle of these stone walls with views to the ocean.

It was really very laid back.  Our biggest stress was the Dennis the Menace face and antics/or maybe it was the annoying woman I had a fight with in the pouring rain at Ballards as I defended my husband's driving packing the car for both directions.  Not so hard to take!

A regular "face" in our life...
We did alot of this.

And this.

And we listened to the "old fashion" radio - as my son Anthony called it!  (Is that scary or what?  OLD FASHION???????  When did I get this OLD??)

Did a little picture taking hiking.

A little shopping..

ALOT of reading!

ALOT of picture taking!

A teeny bit of fishing.

Bonded with my daughter Brooke over our first ever jigsaw puzzle together!

And on our last day, we had a little surprise visit with our friends and spent an afternoon downing Coronas

listening to great music and dancing our buns off.

So basically...

And THAT would be a JOYFUL vacation.
